Welcome
I am an Assistant Professor in the Astronomy Department
and an Assistant Astronomer in the Steward Observatory at
the University of Arizona. My research focuses on
star formation within molecular clouds. I use telescopes
and interferometers to observe pre-stellar and protostellar
objects embedded in giant molecular clouds. To complement
these observations, I perform numerical simulations to
model the underlying physical processes and generate
synthetic observations from the models. By comparing
these synthetic images with actual observations,
I validate and refine the models. Through this iterative
approach, I aim to advance our understanding of star formation,
with broader implications for galaxy evolution and planet formation.
I had a BS degree in physics from Peking University.
Then, I completed a PhD degree in Astronomy at the
University of Florida. Before joining the University of Arizona,
I was a postdoctoral researcher at Yale University.
Research interests:
Molecular clouds, star formation, outflows, infrared dark clouds, magnetic fields.
